Creativity and writing guidance for B2B marketers

Legal, Privacy, and AI Information

Let’s keep this simple.

We’re not going to do anything unusual or shady with your data. We’ll keep your emails, and records of any work we’ve done for you. We use some cloud services. This website has some embedded videos from YouTube. And we might look at GA4 from time to time. We don’t generate copy in AI, but sometimes we might use it for reference purposes.

That’s about it. You’ll find a bit more information below, and if you have any specific questions, you’re more than welcome to ask.

Windhover B2B is the trading name of freelance consultant David McGuire.

Because nobody knows how to spell “McGuire”.

Technically, we also have to tell you our website address is: https://windhoverb2b.com. Which is odd, as you’re already here.

We keep email correspondence and records of the work we’ve done.

Indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete it (which we’re happy to do, obviously) or we run out of space. Things change quickly in marketing, and experience has taught us that having access to old discussions and ideas can be one of the things our clients really value.

How long we keep background information you send us depends on how big the files are, and/or whether the information’s sensitive.

If you have policies or requirements that are more specific, those take precedence – so please let us know.

We back up your data in the cloud, and use some SaaS services.

The cloud storage is with the usual established, household-name companies with stringent security measures.

We do very little data processing in the cloud. Currently, it’s only invoicing – which uses contact details, and brief descriptions and pricing for the work we’ve completed for you. We’re happy to provide details of the specific SaaS provider on request.

This website includes embedded media, hosted on other websites.

Specifically, videos from YouTube.

These behave in exactly the same way as if you were viewing them on YouTube’s own site. So that might mean they collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. That includes tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you’re logged into a YouTube account.

We might look at Google Analytics to see what you read on this site.

Not you specifically, of course. We’re not tracking your identity. We just like to watch the graphs go up and down, and see if we can learn anything about which bits of the website are popular. The novelty wears off pretty quickly. This is quite a small website.

We don’t AI-generate work, and we won’t feed your private info to an AI.

Everything on this site was made by humans, and our client work is too.

But – while we don’t publish AI-generated stuff, and we don’t provide AI-written content to our clients – we might sometimes use AI to help us work more effectively. For instance, by finding better synonyms (sounds weird, but AI makes an amazing thesaurus), checking human drafts for gaps and inconsistencies, calculating readability, or comparing against existing work online.

Importantly, we will never enter sensitive data into an AI, and we will never pass off AI-generated content as human.

You have the right to ask for an export of your data, or tell us to delete it.

And unless we can’t for legal reasons, we will absolutely comply. It’s your data after all.

Be warned, though: that export will be a messy heap of email chains and old invoices. Like we said, we really don’t do anything unusual, structured, or frankly very interesting with your information.
