Creativity and writing guidance for B2B marketers

David’s a joy to work with. He took time to really understand our culture, asked insightful questions, and challenged our thinking in all the right places. He’s worth every penny.

Head-and-shoulders shot of David McGuire. He’s a white, middle-aged man with a beard and floppy hair, wearing a tee shirt under a corduroy blazer. He’s clearly trying to look creative, but still very B2B.

David McGuire is a B2B copywriting and creativity consultant, speaker, and coach.

He’s known for making dull subjects interesting, and complicated things simple. That’s probably why he’s been so successful in B2B – where he’s spent two decades as a copywriter, trainer, creative director, and strategist.

If you’re a B2B marketer, David can help you solve content problems, develop your skills, improve your writing, and find better ideas.

(He’s a handy facilitator, speaker, and stakeholder whisperer too.)

David is a refreshing voice in B2B: a smart, down-to-earth professional who isn’t invested in making things sound more complex or important than they are.

He knows how to find the stories hiding inside any company and to tell them in a clear, compelling way. As a bonus, he’s also a fun, entertaining speaker and Master of Ceremonies.

What David doesn’t know about B2B copywriting isn’t worth knowing.

His sessions at our conferences are always highly informed and entertaining in equal measure, and the training workshops he runs are incredibly powerful for attendees. He’s an extremely valuable contributor to so much of what we do at B2B Marketing, including our Propolis community.

David built his career serving niche B2B sectors. Materials handling, HVAC, cybersecurity, medical manufacturing, pensions… you name it. In former lives, he’s also worked in sales, education, and public sector communications.

Your obscure B2B specialism? That’s his idea of fun. The nerdier the better.

If you need a sounding board on any part of your content, messaging, or writing, David’s ready to help. He’ll dive in alongside you – as deep as you want. And he’ll bring a whole utility belt of experience, ideas, and tools.

Add a challenging creative mind to your team (just not all the time).

You can expect David to ask you thought-provoking questions, and suggest fresh angles you’d never considered. He’s the kind of person who’s great value in meetings, workshops… frankly, in small doses.

Helpfully, he works on a project, coaching, or consultancy basis. It means you can get as much challenge or inspiration as you want – without having to live with him every day.

Gain a bird’s-eye perspective
on your B2B marketing work.

“Windhover” is an archaic name for the common kestrel, and a gorgeous Gerard Manley Hopkins poem. David saw the way this falcon holds its head still as a good parallel for the experienced perspective he brings to clients. (Or he really likes kestrels and poetry, so post-rationalised the name; take your pick.)

In the 16th century, there was another, less polite name for kestrels, but that name was already taken.
